About The Game and How It Works

Adult Game

The MS Kick For The Cure is a marathon soccer game. To play in the adult game you must be at least 14 years old. All players are welcome to play regardless of skill level or experience. Registration for the game is done through the website at www.mskickforthecure.com

After players have registered they are split into two teams. Each team consists of up to forty players, both male and female. Once the teams have been organized, the players report to their designated coach. The coaches then place each player on one of four shifts. Each shift will consist of 11 players, except the 4th shift which will have only 7 players. The coaches will then double shift players from each of the other shifts to play on this 4th shift. Players from the 4th shift sometimes do not have the choice to double shift but as the game goes on the coaches make sure they have equal playing time. The shifts rotate every 10 minutes. The referee will blow the whistle every 10 minutes to allow for the shift changes.

At the five hour mark it will be HALF-TIME. This will be a 15 minute break for everyone. At the end of half-time the rotation will continue as it had before the stoppage.

As the game goes on players tend to get TIRED or HURT and sometimes need to rest for a shift. The coaches will then double shift some of the more EAGER players (the ones who don't want to walk the next day) to fill in those shifts. Playing time is NOT something you will be short of.
